Censer with cover, Qing 1644–1911, Chinese, censer with two handles in the shape of mascarons lion/fo iconography, ritual vessel, inlay with gold vein decoration, 19th century, China, height 12.5 cm, width 11.1 cm, A metallic container with a domed lid sits against a neutral gray background, the container showing a warm bronze color with darker bronze and muted gold detailing, and a small sculpted figure in a darker metallic hue perched on top of the lid; the lid has pierced decorative openings and etched patterns, the body of the container displays engraved motifs and a raised circular mask-like ornament in a darker metallic tone, and the piece stands on a few short ornate feet that cast a subtle reflection on the glossy surface beneath it.
