Vase, Chinese, Qing dynasty Xianfeng period, 1851–1861, cloisonné enamel. Tall conical foot flaring downwards terminating in a metal ring, decorated with a lotus tendril. Short wide neck topped with a metal ring, below which is a border of ruyi-heads. Belly and neck decorated in a continuous composition of flowers and plum branches against a red Chinese meander background. 1st half of the 19th century. Vessel; height 25.1 cm, diameter 16.5 cm, weight 1.5 kg., A rounded vase with a narrow rim and flared foot sits against a neutral background, its main surface a deep red decorated with a repeating geometric pattern. Flowing green stems and leaves wind across the red field, punctuated by a group of stylized flowers in pale yellow, white, and light pink with dark blue centers and accents. The rim and foot edges are metallic gold, and the foot band features ornate scrolling motifs in pale green, white, and blue on the same red background. Overall colors visible include red, green, pale yellow, white, pink, dark blue, and gold.
