Vase, Chinese art; Chinese culture. Qing dynasty 1644–1911, Xianfeng period 1851–1861. Cloisonné enamel with floral pattern and meander ornament. The vase is set on a tall, conical foot flaring downwards and terminating in a metal ring, decorated with a lotus tendril. The neck is short and wide, topped with a metal ring, below which is a border composed of ruyi heads. The belly and neck are decorated with a continuous composition of flowers and plum branches against a red Chinese meander background. 1st half of the 19th century. China. Vessel. Height 25.1 cm; diameter 16.5 cm; weight 1.5 kg., A decorative vase photographed against a plain gray background, showing its rounded body, narrowed neck, and flared rim and foot with metallic bands. The main surface of the vase is a deep red color with an intricate repeating geometric pattern in a slightly darker shade. Over this red ground there is a floral design featuring a few large blossoms and many leaves in shades of green, pale yellow, white, and light blue, with some petal and leaf accents in darker blue and teal. The neck and foot borders include decorative motifs in white, light blue, pale green, and gold, and there are small areas of metallic gold outlining and detailing on the rim and base. The overall palette includes red, green, blue, pale yellow, white, teal, and gold.
