Vase, Chinese; Qing dynasty, Xianfeng period 1851–1861; cloisonné enamel; 1st half of the 19th century. The vase is set on a tall conical foot flaring downwards and terminating in a metal ring, decorated with a lotus tendril. The neck is short and wide, also topped with a metal ring, below which is a border composed of ruyi-heads. The belly and neck are decorated with a continuous composition of flowers and plum branches against a red Chinese meander background. Vessel; height 25.1 cm, diameter 16.5 cm, weight 1.5 kg., A decorative vase with a rounded body and flared neck sits against a gray background; the vase has a rich red ground patterned with a subtle geometric maze-like texture and is decorated with a floral design featuring green leaves and stems, flowers in white, pale yellow, light blue, and touches of dark blue and pink, and small berry-like buds in white and blue; the rim and base edges are metallic gold, and a decorative band near the base includes scrolling floral motifs in white, pale yellow, blue, and green.
