Vase, gift, Chinese art, Chinese culture, Qing 1644–1911, Xianfeng 1851–1861, cloisonné enamel, flowers, floral pattern, meander ornament. The vase is set on a tall, conical foot flaring downwards and terminating in a metal ring, decorated with a lotus tendril. The neck is short and wide, also topped with a metal ring, below which is a border composed of ruyi heads. The belly and neck are decorated with a continuous composition of flowers and plum branches against a red Chinese meander background. 1st half of the 19th century, China. Vessel. Height 25.1 cm; diameter 16.5 cm; weight 1.5 kg., A rounded vase with a narrow neck and flared base, shown against a plain gray background, decorated with a deep red ground covered by a faint geometric pattern and overlaid with floral motifs; there are a few large stylized flowers with white, pale yellow, and pale pink petals tipped with bright blue, and several green leaves with darker green veins arranged on curving stems; a decorative band near the rim features pale green and light blue scalloped shapes with small blue dots, and the flared base carries a patterned border of pale green, light blue, and white floral scrollwork accented with blue and gold; thin gold bands edge the rim and base.
