Travel cutlery set in case; Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century. Consists of: a knife with cloisonné enamel handle and steel blade; b–c ivory chopsticks decorated with an inlaid black lacquer border ornament at the top; d file decorated similarly to the chopsticks; e case made of cloisonné enamel with bronze fittings engraved with ornamentation at top and bottom, interior lined with wood. Chopsticks and file are held by a band decorated with a matching border; narrow cotton-silk strap with fringes attached to the case. Case decorated with flowers in two reserves and plant tendrils in the background. Motifs include plants and a swastika; function: cutlery. Length: 28 cm case., A flat gray background with a group of three long off-white cylindrical rods arranged diagonally across the frame, two of the rods showing decorative darker bands near one rounded end, and a fourth slender darker rod positioned between the off-white rods; visible colors include gray, off-white, black, and a bit of cream.
