Vase, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century. Cloisonné enamel vessel on a foot with a neck; decoration of fish and crabs on a turquoise background and an archaizing inscription on the neck. Height 23.2 cm; diameter 9.1 cm., A rounded vase with a flared rim and foot, primarily turquoise blue, decorated with a repeating wave pattern in darker blue lines; the rim and foot have gold-colored metal bands and the neck displays a band of geometric motifs in darker blue with accents of red and gold. The body shows colorful marine creatures including a red fish with white and yellow fins, a black and gold fish with white highlights, and a blue crab with yellow-tipped claws, along with green and yellow aquatic plants scattered among the wave motifs. The palette includes turquoise blue, dark blue, red, black, gold, yellow, white, and green.
