Vase, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century. Cloisonné enamel vase on a foot with a neck; decoration of fish and crabs on a turquoise background and an archaizing inscription on the neck. Vessel, height 23.2 cm, diameter 9.1 cm., A rounded vase with a narrow neck and flared rim sits against a neutral background; the rim and foot have metallic gold bands, and the body is predominantly light blue with swirling wave patterns in darker blue lines. A large red fish with white and yellow fins is depicted on one side, accompanied by a smaller white fish and a dark blue crab with yellow accents; there are also a few green and pale yellow lotus leaves and other stylized aquatic plants. The neck area features a light blue band with dark vertical decorative characters, separated from the body by a narrow deep blue border with a repeating scallop motif, and the base has a green and white wave-border design. Overall visible colors include light blue, dark blue, red, white, yellow, green, black, and metallic gold.
