Plate, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century. Cloisonné enamel round plate with a flat bottom, arched rim, on a low ring foot; height 2 cm, diameter 14.7 cm. Mirror decorated with a tondo surrounded by a multicolored lotus tendril. Tondo shows a cricket in motion perched on a flowering plant, positioned at left, with flowering plants dominating the scene. Outer rim filled with medallions depicting stylized lotus and peaches, surrounded by cloud-like projections. Underside of the bottom covered with single-color turquoise enamel., A shallow round dish with a low cylindrical foot, decorated all around with a turquoise blue background and a repeating pattern of small cloudlike motifs and circular medallions in colors including gold, dark blue, red, white, yellow, and purple, the rim and foot showing a metallic gold tone, set against a neutral light gray surface and background.
