Bowl, cloisonné enamel, 18th century, China. Shallow bowl on a separate foot decorated inside with a colorful composition of three symbolic fruits — a peach, a pomegranate, and a finger lemon — accompanied by bats. Interpreted as a wish for many happiness, long life, and many sons. Inner rim decorated with a circle of ruyi heads black, red, and navy blue. Outer surface filled with colorful medallions arranged singly, in pairs, or in threes, featuring stylized plant motifs within a Chinese meander frame made of bent wire in a net-like pattern on a turquoise background. Foot decorated with a band of alternating red and blue circles on a turquoise ground. Bottom entirely covered with turquoise enamel. Diameter 9.3 cm., A shallow, round dish sits against a pale gray background, decorated in primarily blue tones with accents of gold, green, pink, black, white, and purple; the exterior shows a patterned blue field with circular medallions containing floral motifs in green, pink, black, and white outlined in gold, and a lower band with a repeated dot motif in blue and pink set against gold trim, while the interior rim displays dark purple and gold scrolling shapes and the overall piece rests on a short foot rim also edged in gold.
