Vase, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 18th century, China; porcelain vessel decorated with lotuses, plant motifs including lotus tendril ornament, dragons, and taotie; height 30.5 cm., An ornate vase sits against a plain light gray background, showing a bulbous body with a narrow neck and flared rim. The vase surface combines metallic bronze tones with bands of bright turquoise blue and accents of gold, red, white, green, and brown. A decorative metal ring handle is attached near the shoulder, framed by raised ornamental motifs and small round insets. Patterned bands encircle the vessel, including a central turquoise band with stylized floral forms in gold and red and upper and lower bands of densely textured geometric surface in bronze. The rim and base show darker brown metallic finishes, and the overall surface has a slightly aged patina. The vase rests on a reflective surface that mirrors its lower portion.
