Hu-type vase, hu vessel, Chinese, Ming dynasty 1368–1644, Xuande period 1426–1435 — possible backdated signatures, taotie ornamentation, ceremonial/ritual vessel, height 31.5 cm, width 17.0 cm., An aged metal vessel stands upright against a neutral gray background, showing a patinated surface with green and dark bronze tones and touches of brown; it has a flared rim with a scalloped edge, a narrow neck that widens into a bulbous midsection, and a rounded foot; decorative relief patterns encircle the upper and lower sections, and a vertical strap-like handle runs from near the rim down the body, attached with a small ornamental element where it meets the midband; the surface shows areas of uneven coloration and subtle texture variations.
