Metal collar ending a sword hilt fuchi, Kita, Takenori metalworker / personal mottoes, Mito school, Japanese, Edo 1603–1868 / Meiji 1868–1912, 2nd half of the 18th century–19th century. Decoration in high relief, inlaid; engraved signature. Subject motifs: moon, lotuses, momiji maple leaves, flowers. Materials/technique: metal; function: katana hilt fitting fuchi. Dimensions: height 3.9 cm, width 2.2 cm, depth 1.2 cm., A horizontal black band centered against a uniform gray background with a small raised floral motif on the left side featuring a gold-colored bud and darker black leaves and stem.
