Sword hilt ferrule kashira, Nara; maker: Toshinaga 1667–1736. Katana hilt component with gilded applied decoration depicting wild geese among clouds and reeds. Engraved signature. 18th century Edo period, 1603–1868, Japan. Materials: plastic decoration; dimensions: height 3.1 cm, width 1.7 cm, depth 0.6 cm., A small oval object centered on a uniform gray background, the object has a dark outer rim and a textured dark interior with shiny irregular spots, flanked on either side by narrow metallic bands in a gold color, and the overall palette includes gray, black, dark brown, and gold.
