Vase by Namikawa Yasuyuki 1845–1927, cloisonné enamel, ca. 1890–1905 Meiji period. A small, slender vase tapering toward the bottom and terminating in a ring-shaped silver foot. The short neck is slightly parted at the spout and enclosed by a silver ring. An ornamental shippo motif border with rosettes in rhomboid fields decorates the foot and neck. Petal decorations filled with stylized phoenix images flow down to the shoulders. The belly is covered with shiny black enamel and features six colorful fan-shaped reserves with various floral and bird motifs, executed in the yusen technique with silver wires. A silver plaque mounted in the mirror of the bottom is engraved “Kyoto Namikawa.” Origin: Kyoto, Japan. Height 18.0 cm; diameter 7.8 cm., A tall, elongated vase with a glossy black background decorated with several fan-shaped panels showing floral and bird motifs; the neck and base have geometric patterned bands in shades of yellow, green, blue, and black, while the body panels feature colors including white, brown, turquoise, green, purple, yellow, and red, with one panel showing a yellow bird perched on a branch surrounded by green leaves, another panel showing white and teal floral elements on a brown background, and a lower panel showing purple flowers with green leaves on a muted green background.
