Decorated with a realistic colorful motif of red veil fish beneath hanging wisteria leaves and flowers on a light blue background. The bottom bears a brand in the form of a flaming pearl with the character yu in katakana — the mark of enameller Gonda Hirosuke of Nagoya. Circa 1890–1910 Meiji 23–43, Nagoya, Japan. Height 9.0 cm; diameter 8.2 cm., A rounded ceramic vessel viewed from above with a central opening rimmed in aged metallic gold, the body glazed in pale blue and decorated with a flowing pattern of dark green leaves, brown winding stems, and clusters of small rounded blossoms in shades of white and pale purple.
