Decorated with a realistically depicted, colorful motif of red veil fish beneath hanging wisteria leaves and flowers on a light blue background. The bottom bears a brand in the form of a flaming pearl with the character yu in katakana — the mark of enameller Gonda Hirosuke of Nagoya. Circa 1890–1910 Meiji 23–43, Nagoya, Japan. Vessel; height 9.0 cm, diameter 8.2 cm., A rounded vase with a pale blue body and metallic rim, decorated with a floral motif showing hanging clusters of elongated petals and leaves in shades of dark purple, lavender, white, and green, with greenish stems and tendrils extending across the surface; the background and base area remain pale blue with subtle darker blue shading.
