Date: ca. 1890–1900 Meiji period. Place of origin: Kyoto, Japan. Medium: cloisonné enamel. Dimensions: height 15.0 cm; diameter 8.0 cm., A decorative vase with a rounded body and narrow neck sits against a plain gray background; its colors include deep blue, rusty red, white, gold, teal, and touches of black and brown, with ornate painted panels showing stylized birds and floral motifs in shades of teal, red, and cream, gold outlining and accents, a band of floral pattern near the shoulder in cream and gold against a red field, and a gold rim at the mouth, with a subtle reflection of the vase visible on the surface below.
