Decoration: stylized plant ornament, alternating dragon and phoenix in six reserves Japanese dragon motif, hoo/phoenix, ca. 1890–1900 Meiji period, 1868–1912, Japan, Kyoto. Vessel; height 15.0 cm, diameter 8.0 cm., A decorative vase stands against a plain grey background, showing a glossy surface with visible reflection beneath it. The vase displays a palette of blue, deep teal, white, red, gold, brown, and hints of cream. Its upper neck area has intricate floral and scroll patterns in cream and gold on a white background, transitioning to a red band with floral motifs. The midsection features shield-shaped white panels containing stylized bird and cloud-like designs in blue, red, gold, and brown, separated by gold outlines. The lower portion is deep teal with small ornamental flourishes in gold and white and a decorative base rim in gold and cream. The overall shape is elongated and rounded with a slightly flared mouth.
