Vase, Ovoid vase one of a pair, slender, on a low ring-shaped foot with a narrow neck flaring at the rim; foot and mouth framed with sheet metal. Decorated with a motif of a blooming iris bush rendered with naturalistic fidelity and varied color tones, executed using the yusen cloisonné enamel technique against a uniform sea-green background. Around the foot and rim are narrow, colorful yusen borders composed of small triangular forms called cicada wings. Meiji period, ca. 1900. Japan, Nagoya. Cloisonné enamel. Vessel; height 25 cm, width 9.7 cm, depth 8.8 cm., The image shows the top view of a rounded square vase with a glossy teal surface and a circular metal rim around a dark central opening; a floral design with purple and white petals and green stems is partially visible on one side, and the metal rim appears aged with brownish and bronze tones; the background is a smooth light gray and the vase casts a soft, faint reflection below.
