Vase, cloisonné enamel, ovoid vase one of a pair, slender, on a low ring-shaped foot and a narrow neck, flaring at the rim; foot and mouth framed with sheet metal. Decorated with a motif of a blooming iris bush rendered with naturalistic fidelity and varied color tones. Executed using the yusen technique, motif placed against a uniform sea-green background. Narrow colorful borders around the foot and rim made with yusen, composed of small triangular forms called cicada wings. Japanese, Meiji period, ca. 1900; Nagoya. Vessel.
