Vase, Hiratsuka, Mohei 1836-? author. A slender ovoid, double-walled bottle on a very low ring foot with a narrow neck flaring at the spout. The outer wall is openwork and composed of densely arranged, colorfully enamelled cloisonné wisteria flowers and leaves, filling the entire surface of the vessel's body. The flowers are rendered naturalistically with clusters in shades of lilac and blue using multiple enamel tones; the leaves employ several green tones. In the lower body, a strip of silver left around the foot is engraved with a stylized wave motif. The arms of the vessel are also solid silver, with a strip of stylized clouds running above the floral ornament in a manner characteristic of Far Eastern art. The neck is enclosed by a rosette with petals decorated with a multicolored miniature stylized plant ornament including chrysanthemum half-rosettes, leafy forms, and volutes. Mark on the bottom: oval convex plaque with the artist's name: Hiratsuka. Ca. 1880–1890 Meiji Period, 1868–1912, Japan. Vessel. Height 19.1 cm; diameter 7.2 cm., A tall, slender decorative vase with a glossy metallic top and base, covered in an intricate raised pattern of clustered flowers and layered leaves. The surface shows a dense arrangement of small rounded blossoms and elongated leaflets, creating a cascading, textured effect that wraps around the body. Visible colors include shades of purple, lavender, and pale blue in the flowers, green in the leaves, and silver or gunmetal tones in the background metalwork, with touches of darker and lighter highlights that emphasize the raised details. The neck and rim have ornate metallic motifs and a slightly flared opening, and the base reflects a subtle mirrored surface. The overall appearance is richly detailed, with a mix of smooth metallic areas and heavily textured floral decoration.
