Small box with a lid, Kinkôzan, Sôbei VII 1867–1927 author; Kinkôzan workshop; . Japanese, Meiji period late 19th century. Satsuma ceramic vessel decorated with wisteria and butterflies. The lid has a gold knob shaped like a flower. The vessel has two slightly convex handles and stands on three wide feet. Signed. Origin: Kyoto, Awata. Height 6.8 cm; diameter 10.2 cm., A circular decorative plate shown against a gray background, featuring a central raised gold medallion surrounded by a radiating floral motif with accents of red, green, and dark blue; the plate surface is primarily creamy white with painted botanical designs in shades of brown, green, pale blue, pink, and lavender, and includes several small insects depicted in brown and black; an ornate gold border with intricate patterns encircles the rim, and additional gold detailing appears throughout the foliage and floral elements.
