Small box with a lid, Kinkôzan Sôbei VII 1867–1927 maker, Kinkôzan workshop, Japanese, Meiji period late 19th century, Kyoto, Awata. Satsuma ceramics vessel/container with wisteria and butterflies decoration. The lid has a gold knob shaped like a flower. The vessel has two slightly convex handles and stands on three wide feet. Signed. Height 6.8 cm; diameter 10.2 cm., An oval lid with a domed golden knob sits against a gray background, the lid surface predominantly creamy white with ornate botanical and insect illustrations in shades of gold, brown, green, blue, pink, and purple, surrounded by a wide decorative gold border featuring patterned accents, and the central knob rests on a multicolored sunburst-like base in red, blue, green, and gold.
