Box with lid by Jômi, Eisuke I 1839–1899. Rectangular box with rounded corners, decorated on the flat lid with two flying wild geese in high relief with silver and gold inlay iro-e zogan. Side walls decorated with inclined reeds in silver and shakudo using hira-zogan technique motif level with background, painted effect. Gold signature on the lid in a square field with two stylized kanji resembling archaic characters: Shobi. Ca. 1880–1899 Meiji period, 1868–1912. Kyoto, Japan. Container. Height 4.8 cm; width 10.2 cm; depth 11.4 cm., A rectangular metal box with rounded corners sits on small feet, showing a brown and bronze surface with darker brown and black decorative brushlike motifs along its sides; the lid is slightly inset and the top edge has a thin metallic trim, and the background is a smooth light gray to white gradient.
