A slender miniature silver vase by Nogawa, ca. 1890–1900 Meiji period, 1868–1912, Kyoto, Japan. The vase has a belly widening slightly toward the top, narrow straight arms, no neck, and a spout in the form of a flat ring; the bottom is round, slightly recessed, with an engraved brand. Decoration: a naturalistically treated wisteria vine placed on the upper part of the belly on one side, with a sumptuous flower cluster hanging down almost to the end. Made of silver with gilding and black shakudo patina, combining various metals and alloys to produce a darker decorative motif against the background, enhancing colorfulness and naturalistic yet decorative effect. Height 15.7 cm; width 5.3 cm., A tall cylindrical vase with a rounded rim, shown against a plain gray background, in a mottled brown and olive tone with a glossy finish; a few small dark metallic butterfly-shaped decorations and a small cluster of dark leaf-shaped accents are attached to its surface.
