Okimono in the shape of a taiko drum, Nogawa workshop possibly, Japanese, Meiji period 1868–1912; taiko drum form with butterflies, insects, plant motifs, paulownia; drum-shaped incense burner, ca. 1890–1900, Kyoto, Japan; vessel, height 15.0 cm, diameter 7.8 cm., A round ornamental object with a metal loop at the top rests on a curved metal stand; the object is primarily yellowish-gold with black decorative areas, including a central circular black motif and a patterned black ring around it, and there are small black details and floral-like designs on the yellowish-gold surface; the stand and loop are metallic with a brass-like golden color, and the background is a smooth light gray.
