The rim is decorated with a Chinese meander motif and leiwen thunder ornament; additional motifs include lemons. Chinese; Ming dynasty 1368–1644; 17th century. Material: Chinese lacquer implied. Function: container. Dimensions: height 4.4 cm, width 24.0 cm, depth 10.7 cm., A long, narrow rectangular object with a lid, shown from the side against a plain gray background; both top and bottom surfaces are decorated with a repeated raised geometric pattern forming stepped square motifs, and the object is predominantly reddish with some darker red and subtle brownish accents and slight areas where a muted goldish tone shows in the recessed lines; there is a thin dark gap between lid and base and minor surface wear along the edges.
