Albarello, 14th century Iran, Persian, Islamic art. Ceramic albarello vessel with floral/plant motifs, weight 0.99 kg, height 25 cm, diameter 13.5 cm., A tall ceramic vessel with a slightly flared rim, a bulging midsection, and a narrower base, decorated all over with an intricate painted pattern of floral and vine motifs; the surface shows a network of fine cracks. The visible colors include shades of blue ranging from deep cobalt to lighter sky blue, off-white or cream, black outlining, and areas of beige or light brown on the unglazed base. Several vertical panels of dense floral decoration alternate with darker blue vertical bands, and there is a band of repeating floral motifs near the top and another decorative band near the bottom. The vessel sits on a short, unglazed foot and casts a soft shadow on the surface beneath it.
