Vase with cover, ceramist, Japanese, Edo period Genroku–Kyoho, ca. 1690–1730, Arita porcelain, blue-and-white porcelain; decorated with phoenixes, hares/rabbits, peonies, chrysanthemums, lotuses — kachoga flowers-and-birds iconography; one of four elements of a set; vessel height 58.0 cm, diameter 35.5 cm., A large ceramic vase and a matching lid positioned beside it, both decorated in blue on a white ground with intricate floral and abstract motifs; the vase has a rounded body with a short neck and detailed blue brushwork forming swirling shapes and floral panels, while the lid has a rounded finial and a domed base featuring similar floral patterns; the surface shows glossy reflections and a small area of exposed ceramic at the vase rim; the background is a smooth gray, and the visible colors are blue, white, gray, and a small hint of beige on the rim.
