Hu-type vase, relief decoration; hu vessel; Chinese art; Chinese culture; meander ornament; ceremonial and ritual vessel with clouds and sea waves motifs; Xuande 1426–1435, Ming 1368–1644, Qing 1644–1911; backdated signatures; quadrilateral with rounded lower edges; with an inscription; 17th century ; China; height 24.0 cm, width 12.0 cm., An ornate metal vessel stands upright against a neutral gray background, its surface showing a patina of dark bronze and lighter brass tones; the top section is rectangular and slightly weathered with brownish and golden hues, the neck below it decorated with intricate swirling wave-like engravings in darker and lighter bronze, the midsection broadens into a bulbous body covered in carved patterns resembling stylized clouds and flowing waves with subtle contrast between dark and warm metallic shades, a band separates this from the lower rounded base which features repeated geometric and curvilinear motifs in similar bronze and brass colors, the piece rests on a short foot and its reflection is visible on the smooth surface beneath it.
