Lidded box, Chinese, colored porcelain decorated with pomegranates, chrysanthemums and peonies—floral ornaments; ceramic vessel used for writing instruments; Qing dynasty mid-19th century, 1644–1911; height 3.2 cm, diameter 7.9 cm., A round white ceramic object with a recessed base is shown flat against a gray background, decorated near the rim with painted flowers and trailing stems in colors including red, pink, green, turquoise, and pale yellow, with fine brown outline lines; the central recessed area shows a few small brown specks and the rim of the recess has a slightly rough, beige-tinged edge; the surface reflects softly onto the gray background creating a muted mirror image.
