Flowerpot on base, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, blue-and-white porcelain jardinière with landscape motifs and floral decorations, flowers, 18th–19th century, China; vessel, height 19.7 cm, diameter 28.2 cm., A ceramic bowl with a matching saucer, both decorated in blue on a white ground; the bowl has a flared rim and a rounded body sitting on a short foot, and the saucer mirrors the bowl's curved profile. The painted decoration shows a landscape scene wrapping around the bowl with a group of trees, a small building near the water, stylized cloud and wave motifs, and distant mountain shapes, while the rim and saucer edge are accented with ornamental scroll-like motifs. Visible colors include shades of blue and white, with a small area of brownish discoloration.
