Bian hu moon pilgrim bottle, 17th century China, blue and white porcelain vessel with figurative scenes of circus performers, floral tendril and plant ornaments; height 15 cm, diameter 3.5 cm., A round porcelain vessel with a short cylindrical neck and a flat base, decorated in blue and white. The front shows a circular scene painted in blue featuring a group of figures standing on a patterned ground, surrounded by a scrolling floral border. The neck and upper rim are patterned with stylized floral motifs, and the shoulders have molded, ribbon-like handles on either side. The lower body has vertical stripe decoration near the base and additional scrolling floral ornament around the circumference. The visible colors are white and shades of blue, set against a neutral gray background.
