Vase — moon bottle pilgrim with a sleeve, maker, cloisonné enamel; Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century, China; decorated with peacocks, herons, dragons, flower tendril and lotus tendril ornament iconography; height 39.3 cm, width 28.5 cm, depth 11.4 cm., A round, flattened vase with a narrow neck and flared rim sits against a neutral background, decorated overall in a turquoise blue ground with ornate swirling cloudlike patterns in darker blue and gold; a large circular panel on the body shows an intricate scene with a peacocklike bird and stylized floral and landscape motifs rendered in deep blue, green, red, gold, and touches of white; two sculpted handles in a metallic gold tone shaped like stylized mythical creatures flank the neck and extend onto the shoulder; the rim, base edge, and some raised decorative elements show a warm metallic gold color, and the surface has areas of subtle patina and wear that create variations in color and texture.
