On the belly six ovoid reserves with figural decoration four female figures with wreaths, two images of Vishnu; plant and animal motifs on the entire surface. 19th century, India; vessel. Height 65.0 cm, width 27.5 cm, weight 2.95 kg., A tall ornate metal vessel stands upright against a plain light gray background, rendered in warm brass and bronze tones with areas of darker brown patina; the vase has an elongated oval body rising from a flared round base with decorative ridges, and the surface is covered in intricate raised floral and foliate patterns with repeating oval medallions that contain human-like figures in bas-relief; two long curved handles extend from the neck to the shoulder, each handle shaped like a stylized serpentine form terminating in broad flattened fin-like elements, and the neck flares into a scalloped rim with additional embossed ornamentation.
