On the belly six ovoid reserves with figural decoration four female figures with wreaths, two images of Vishnu; plant and animal motifs on the entire surface. 19th century, India, vessel; height 65.0 cm, width 27.5 cm, weight 2.95 kg., A tall decorative vase with an elongated ovoid body and a flared scalloped rim sits against a neutral gray background; the vase is predominantly brown with subtle greenish accents and shows ornate low-relief surface decoration of repeating floral and foliate patterns and framed oval medallions containing raised human figures; two long sinuous handles rise from the shoulders and curve outward and upward, each terminating in a stylized animal head, and a pair of short decorative projections connect the handles to the neck; the vessel stands on a stepped rounded foot and a tapered pedestal, all surfaces covered with intricate carved or embossed ornamentation in the same brown and greenish tones.
