The plate depicts the popular export-porcelain motif of the arrival of the shepherds to the Bethlehem stable; iconography includes the Holy Family and the shepherds' adoration; Jesus Christ. Vessel; height 2.2 cm, diameter 23.0 cm, weight 0.37 kg., A round ceramic plate with a pale grayish-white background and a thin gold rim, decorated with delicate monochrome gray and black line drawings; the central scene shows a group of figures seated and standing amid draped fabric and architectural elements, with one reclining animal in the foreground and grassy foliage around the scene, while the wide border features scrolling floral and foliate motifs, ornamental cartouches, and ribbonlike flourishes in gray and black.
