Mirror with TLV decoration on a pedestal in the form of a qilin on a base. Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911. Mirror: cast from chiseled bronze, decoration in flat relief — centrally placed knob enclosed in a square with four T-like motifs attached; L- and V-shaped motifs at the edge. Unicorn qilin: cast from chiseled bronze. Base: carved wood. 18th century mirror cast from an earlier product, possibly 6th century–?. Sculpture/mirror. Height 26 cm; diameter 16.2 cm., An object with a rich reddish-brown wooden base lying on its side shows a scalloped, irregular outline and small rounded feet, with a few worn areas revealing lighter brown; next to it is a dark brown carved figure with a glossy surface and patches of lighter brown wear, featuring curved horn-like protrusions, a hollowed underside, and several rounded limb-like forms, all set against a pale gray background.
