Decoration: floral decorations and plant ornaments—chrysanthemums, sakura, peonies, plant tendrils; geometric ornaments; kachôga and phoenix hoo imagery including spotted pheasants. Function: decorative vessel for plants., A large ceramic vessel with a rounded, slightly flaring rim sits against a dark background; the vessel is richly decorated with intricate floral and scroll motifs in a palette of blue, red, white, and gold, with touches of green; the upper rim interior shows alternating patterned panels in blue and red surrounding a white interior; the body displays ornate cartouche-like panels filled with dense floral scenes and stylized foliage in red and gold on a white ground framed by deep blue scrolling forms; the shoulders and sides feature repeated floral rosettes and decorative borders in blue, red, and gold, and the lower band shows a row of blue floral arches on a white background; the vessel rests on a dark plinth and the overall surface has a glossy glazed finish.
