Bronze-framed vase, creator unknown, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911. Ceramic vessel with plastic brown-stained biscuit decoration depicting dragons, a pelican, waves; decorative vessel. 2nd half of the 19th century. Height 62.0 cm; width 27.0 cm., A tall, oval-shaped ceramic vase with a narrow neck and rounded shoulders sits on an ornate metal stand; the vase shows a top rim with a metal band in a dark, aged tone and a short neck glazed in pale cream with faint vertical lines, followed by a scalloped green band at the shoulder. The main body of the vase is a warm brown color with subtle surface crackling and small dark decorative swirl motifs. Near the base there is a blue and white band decorated with wave-like patterns, and the metal stand below is dark with greenish patina and has an intricate, aged design with curved legs. The visible colors include brown, green, pale cream, blue, white, dark metal tones, and hints of greenish verdigris.
