Jug aftabe, Persian, Qajar dynasty 1785–1925, aftabe; dense plant and geometric ornament; dragons, zoomorphism; 19th century; Central Asia, Iran ; ceramic vessel; height 34.0 cm, width 22.7 cm, diameter 13.3 cm., An ornate metal ewer with a rounded body on a flared base, showing intricate raised and engraved patterns across its surface in muted brown and bronze tones with areas of darker patina; a tall neck leads to a flared rim and a curved spout extending outward, both decorated with the same patterned motifs; a hinged domed lid with embossed decoration sits beside the rim, attached to a decorative handle that arches from the rim to the body, the handle and lid fittings showing a contrasting aged yellowish-gold color; the background is a smooth, very light gray that creates a subtle reflection beneath the object.
