Bowl, maker, 2nd half of the 19th century; Qajar dynasty 1785–1925, Iran; ceramic vessel, height 8 cm, diameter 17.5 cm; Persian Islamic art; used for tea; decorated with figural scenes including female images and archers, figures on the rims, architecture and animals; provenance includes Abdullazad Mirza Baba fl. ante 1939., A ceramic bowl rimmed with decorative bands shows painted figurative scenes in blue, brown, green, and white; the rim has a patterned border with floral motifs in blue and green, below which a scene includes a personlike figure in blue holding a long curved object between two stylized animals or objects rendered in brown and blue, with additional ornamental elements and a chipped area at the rim revealing bare ceramic.
