Bowl, late 19th century 1893, Qajar dynasty, Iran; ceramic vessel, height 8.5 cm, diameter 19 cm. Decoration on the rim: Rostam, with a dragon and Majnun i Lejla and the date 1893. Persian/Qajar ceramics; tableware/utility ceramic with figural scenes, dragons, birds, literary motifs; also references to lutes and jambiyah in imagery., A shallow ceramic bowl with a rounded body and short foot, decorated with hand-painted figurative and geometric motifs in green and brown on a pale off-white background; the rim shows a narrow decorative band with crosshatched and floral patterns in green, a central scene around the midsection depicts a group of stylized human figures and abstract shapes outlined in green with areas of brown shading, and leafy vine-like patterns appear near the upper edge; the foot is off-white with traces of green glaze and the surface shows age-related wear and slight chips.
