Place of origin: Arita, Hizen, Japan. Function: vessel. Dimensions: height 122.0 cm; diameter 44.0 cm; weight 43.0 kg., A tall, slender ceramic vase with a flared rim sits against a dark background. The vase is richly decorated with intricate painted patterns and motifs in prominent colors of blue, orange, white, and touches of green and gold. The neck and shoulder feature dense floral and circular medallion designs in blue and orange, while the body displays panels of ornamental scenes with flowing organic shapes and stylized foliage in blue and orange on a white ground. The lower section has a band of deep blue decoration with repeating arch-like motifs, and the interior of the flared rim shows a floral border in blue and orange on a white surface. The overall surface is glossy and finely detailed.
