Weituo is a protector whose task is to preserve Buddhist teachings and protect monasteries; according to tradition he fought demons that tried to steal Buddha's relics and is depicted as a general wearing a high helmet and full chain mail armor, secured at the waist with a belt adorned with a monster's head, usually shown with a sword. Dimensions: height 32.0 cm; width 15.8 cm; depth 10.5 cm., A carved standing figure on a small carved pedestal, shown in profile, with ornate armor and layered garments, a headdress, and hands raised in a gesture; the carving has visible carved patterns and flowing drapery elements, and the surface appears dark brown with some lighter brown highlights, all set against a neutral gray background.
