Tray, lacquerware, Japanese, Edo period 1603–1868, 1st half of the 19th century. Decoration: asymmetrical composition of an old plum tree trunk with young shoots; motif includes plum trees and birds kachôga. Vessel; height 2.6 cm, width 17.8 cm, depth 9.5 cm., A shallow, double-lobed tray with a textured speckled surface in gold and dark brown, featuring a raised rim and an ornate central motif with stylized floral and organic shapes in gold and dark gray; the background is a flat medium gray.
