According to a Chinese specialist in Buddhist art, the sculpture appears to be contemporary and may come from the late Republic period, 19th century, China; sculpture, height 52 cm, A white stone or marble sculpted head of an older person with closed eyes and prominent brow lines sits on a textured rectangular base; the face shows pronounced cheekbones, a slightly downturned mouth, large ears, and subtle surface discolorations, all set against a dark gray to black gradient background with a black surface beneath the base.
