Tray on legs kakeban, one of a set of three tables placed one on top of the other; almost square red top with high edges and bow legs connected at the bottom by a square frame forming the base. Sides and legs covered with black lacquer and sprinkled with gold using the maki-e technique with flowering cherry and pine branches. Early 19th century Edo period, Japan. Piece of furniture. Height 25.3 cm; width 47.5 cm; depth 46.0 cm., A low, rectangular stand with curved legs and a recessed tray, finished in dark brown or black lacquer with gold floral and leaf ornamentation along the legs and base; the stand has an open top frame and a glossy interior surface, set against a plain light gray background.
