Tsuba round maru gata, flat, with a polished surface migaki ji. Decorated with a delicate negative openwork creating a motif of a moon partially hidden behind clouds and a flight of wild geese. Unsigned. 18th century Edo period, 1603–1868, Japan. Tsuba; height 7.1 cm, width 6.9 cm, depth 0.35 cm., A round metal disk with a dark brown to black patina floating against a pale gray background, featuring a few irregular cutouts including a rounded triangular hole and elongated oval openings, small engraved marks and short lines on its surface, and areas of lighter brown rust and slight wear around the edges and cutouts.
